A Chronicle of Scribbles

Wandering through the Words

I'm a YA writer & book hoarder. My favorite genre (both to read and write) is fantasy, but I will give just about anything a shot. If the characters capture my attention, I'm pretty much hooked.

I used to review books for Children's Literature Comprehensive Database, and will periodically post book reviews here (spoilers redacted or clearly marked, of course!).

Quotes I Like (May Change Periodically):

"If you think you can give up writing, then give it up. If you cant... if you know that no matter how much stress or rejection or frustration you face, that you can never stop writing? In that case, never give up. Publishing is too hard to face if you aren't in it for the right reasons. But it's not too hard to break into if it's what you need to do." ~ Jim McCarthy

"The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating - in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life." ~ Anne Morriss

"I don't wait for moods. You accomplish nothing if you do that. Your mind must know it has got to get down to work." ~ Pearl S. Buck

"Try any goddam thing you like, no matter how boringly normal or outrageous. If it works, fine. If it doesn't, toss it. Toss it even if you love it." ~ Stephen King

"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." ~ Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling

Just a few of my fave authors: Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson, Seanan McGuire, Meg Cabot, Neil Gaiman, Sarah Rees Brennan, Rob Thurman, Lisa McMann and Kristin Cashore. And I'm sure I've missed some...

Friend Policy: I'm looking forward to meeting others in the industry, so if you friend me, I'll probably friend you back. I reserve the right to not friend someone back (if the profile contains any hateful messages, for example), and request that if I do friend you, please introduce yourself on the next entry I post, in the comments. I also reserve the right to delete any troll-like comments, so if you come in with your club swinging, don't expect to find a voice through my blog.
